Wilfred Ukpong, interdisziplinärer Künstler, Filmemacher, Forscher und Aktivist aus Nigeria, dessen Fotografien in der Ausstellung Wasser Botschaften zu sehen sind, zeigt seinen künstlerischer Film „Future-World-EXV“. Mit Aspekten des Afrofuturismus und der Mystik verbindet Ukpong fesselnde und poetische Reflexionen über die aktuelle Krise der Umweltzerstörung und Ausbeutung im Nigerdelta.
Wilfred Ukpong lebt und arbeitet in Oxford (UK), Clermont-Ferrand (Frankreich) und Eket (Nigeria). Ukpong arbeitet in den Bereichen Fotografie, Film, Skulptur, Installation, Sound/Musik und Performance. Er verbindet seine künstlerische Praxis im Studio mit sozialem Engagement, indem er relevante sozio-politische und ökologische Themen unter Beteiligung der Gemeinschaft aufgreift.

Wilfred Ukpong, interdisciplinary artist, filmmaker, researcher and activist from Nigeria, whose photographs are featured in the Water Messages exhibition, will show his artistic film „Future-World-EXV.“ Combining aspects of Afrofuturism and mysticism, Ukpong offers compelling and poetic reflections on the current crisis of environmental degradation and exploitation in the Niger delta.
Wilfred Ukpong lives and works in Oxford (UK), Clermont-Ferrand (France), and Eket (Nigeria). Working between photography, film, sculpture, installation, sound/music, performance, Ukpong incorporates a studio-based artistic practice with connective social engagement, tackling pertinent socio-political and environmental issues with community participation and intervention.
The event will be held in English in the Great Lecture Hall.
