Mark Turner macht auf seiner European Tour 25 erneut Halt in der Halle424.  Er wird uns mit seinem hochkarätigen Quartett brandneue Kompositionen aus seinem noch unveröffentlichten neuen ECM Album präsentieren. Wir dürfen uns auch auf ein paar Solo-Einlagen freuen, aus dem intimen Projekt „We raise them to lift their heads“. Das Album ist das Produkt einer Kooperation mit Jakob Bro.

Bro spricht über Turner mit Zuneigung und Respekt wenn er sich an die gemeinsame Zeit in einem kleinen Apartment in Red Hook, Brooklyn vor 25 Jahren erinnert. “His saxophone and his work on sound, harmonies, melodies, rhythm, etc., became a kind of soundtrack to my life at the time,” Bro stated in a press document. “The horn has so much warmth and life, and then there’s a harmonic world that is entirely Mark’s own. My wish with the solo album is to recreate the mood I experienced when I lived with Mark. He’s sitting in the next room, searching for new paths in the music. Always.” Jazztimes
